Basic Info
Bio
Rogue hails from Caldecott County, Mississippi, though she wouldn’t want to remember it. Her mother disappeared when she was little, and her father—not being the best father figure in the world—left her with her aunt Carrie. Carrie was a strict guardian, which didn’t suit Rogue at all. She ran away when she was a teenager and came across Mystique, who took her in as a daughter.

One day, Rogue kisses a young boy named Cody, sending him into a coma and temporarily absorbing his memories. She is traumatized by the experience, and Mystique coaxes her into joining her terrorist group, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. As much as she wants only to live a normal life, Rogue knows that this is impossible and acquiesces.

The future-telling mutant Destiny (a close friend of Mystique’s) warns that the heroine Ms. Marvel will pose a threat to Rogue and her “mother.” To prevent this from coming true, Rogue seeks out Ms. Marvel and deliberately absorbs her powers, gaining her super strength, near invulnerability, and flight abilities. Rogue soon learns that this “premonition” was in fact only a charade of Mystique’s, as she felt that Ms. Marvel’s powers would serve her terrorist purposes well. This, mixed with the facts that the absorption of Ms. Marvel’s powers were permanent and that she had nearly destroyed Ms. Marvel, causes a rift between Rogue and Mystique.

As she absorbed more and more abilities during her involvement with the Brotherhood (including Wolverine and Storm’s), Rogue began to fear that she would lose her own personality to the memories now dwelling in her mind, and turned to Professor Xavier for help. Though the X-Men are hesitant to accept her, the Professor welcomes her with open arms. It doesn’t take long for her to earn the others’ trust by risking her neck for several of them on more than one occasion.

Her involvement with the team only solidified when she discovered that her longtime teammate Kurt Wagner, alias Nightcrawler, was Mystique’s biological son. From then on the two referred to one another as siblings, though their relationship hardly changed.

Eventually, a new mutant named Remy LeBeau joined the X-Men, and the two were almost instantly attracted to one another. However, because of Rogue’s uncontrollable ability to absorb a person’s life force by skin-to-skin contact, the two could never act upon their feelings. When they finally did kiss, Rogue received images of Remy’s involvement in the massacre of the Morlocks, and fled from the X-Men to gather her thoughts.

Now, she's returned home and is hoping to pick up the pieces... without breaking anything else.
